It is a pleasure to be able to report further on the announcement made during the Kellogg-Recanati 15th anniversary celebration regarding the establishment of the Ariav & Franklin Scholarship Fund.
Prof. Larry Franklin
The Ariav & Franklin Scholarship Fund will provide one or more scholarships each year to students accepted by the Kellogg-Recanati International EMBA Program who need and deserve financial aid, as determined by the scholarship committee of the program.
The fund was established at the initiative of Prof. Larry Franklin by the Morris S. Smith Foundation, of which Prof. Franklin is a trustee, in cooperation with the Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration.
Prof. Franklin is an Adjunct Professor of Finance, Business Law and Management at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), which is a member of the Kellogg Global Executive network. He has been teaching the Business Law course at the Kellogg-Recanati Program since 2003.
Prof. Gadi Ariav
One of the first people he met at Recanati was Prof. Gadi Ariav with whom he developed a particularly close relationship. It was this relationship, his affinity with the Kellogg-Recanati International EMBA students, and the connection to the Recanati School through its administrators and through the Kellogg family of schools that motivated him to establish the Ariav & Franklin Scholarship Fund.
Prof. Franklin had three primary objectives in making a gift to the Recanati School:
To give something back to Recanati, specifically to the Kellogg-Recanati International EMBA program, where he has been teaching for the past 10 years;
To honor Prof. Gadi Ariav, a life-long educator and important principal in both the Kellogg-Recanati International EMBA program and the former Kellogg-HTMS (High Technology Management School) Program, in which Prof. Franklin was invited to teach;
To try to inspire alumni, students and especially teachers to consider giving to the program.
So far, the fund has secured an amount of US$21,000 for scholarships for the next academic year. We would like to increase this amount so that we can provide substantial support for top candidates who would like to join the program and need financial aid.
We invite graduates of the program to join us and make a contribution to the Ariav & Franklin Scholarship Fund. This gift is an investment in the future of the Kellogg Recanati program, YOUR program, building the Kellogg-Recanati brand.
